UConn 4-H at Fox Field Farm

Fox Field Farm is proud to be part of the UConn 4-H community, offering a positive, hands-on environment where young people learn through meaningful experiences with animals, agriculture, and leadership development. Our club welcomes youth of all backgrounds and skill levels, giving every member a place to grow, express themselves, and discover what they’re capable of.

4-H is delivered through Cooperative Extension—powered by more than 100 public universities nationwide, including UConn Extension here in Connecticut. For more than a century, 4-H has helped millions of kids and teens build confidence, develop practical life skills, and become active members of their communities.

Join Fox Field Farm 4-H!

At Fox Field Farm, members take part in engaging, real-world projects that help them gain independence, responsibility, and leadership skills. Through hands-on learning, youth explore agriculture, animal care, environmental science, healthy living, and community involvement.

Our 4-H program focuses on:

  • Hands-on agricultural learning
  • Horse and small-animal care
  • Leadership and communication skills
  • STEM-based activities
  • Citizenship and community service
  • Teamwork, respect, and personal growth

4-H helps youth develop resilience, adaptability, and confidence—skills that benefit them in school, at home, and throughout their lives.

A Positive Learning Environment

Fox Field Farm provides a supportive setting where youth work closely with trained adult volunteers and mentors. Members are encouraged to try new things, take on leadership roles, and contribute positively to their club, community, country, and world—reflecting the core pillars of the 4-H mission.

4-H is active in every county and parish across the United States, offering opportunities through in-school and after-school programs, community clubs, and 4-H camps. Our farm is proud to contribute to that mission by offering high-quality, hands-on learning experiences to local youth and families.

What does 4-H Stand for?

Head, Heart, Hands, and Health

They represent the core values and personal development goals of the program:

  • Head – for clearer thinking
  • Heart – for greater loyalty
  • Hands – for larger service
  • Health – for better living

These values guide all 4-H projects and activities, helping youth grow into capable, caring, and confident leaders.

The 4-H Pledge

I pledge my head to clearer thinking,
my heart to greater loyalty,
my hands to larger service,
and my health to better living,
for my club, my community, my country, and my world.
